Para p14 black ops combat

Welcome the new kid into the fold. Range report and more pics to follow; but for now, I was hoping to get everyone's take on this pistol. What's your thoughts gents?

Para Ordnance Black Ops 45 ACP

Kinda wondering why they dempled in the 2D barcode on it. If it runs anything like my old P I had to send my Para back for a frame replacement. The older guns with alloy frames just don't seem to hold up. These newer steel frame guns are runners! They replaced my frame with that same frame less the rail. Red, I've seen that a on a few other pistols from different makers. The gov 2D bar code idents the item and SN.

However it does not get a bar code until it hits the system to avoid a conflict with other codes already there. I also dont think that Para has any current gov contracts. I think this is going to be the wave of the future, makes it easier for ATF to do the registration, I mean trace process. It would not suprise me if there were some truth to that but I would think we would have heard about it from somewhere by now.

Uh...oops! Something Broke.

I've shot several Para's over the years. They've all been great guns. As for the ambi-safeties, I have shot competition for years, so I'm used to them.

It gives you a bit more leverage when shooting one handed strong or weak because you can drive your thumb into that safety and keep the gun under control much better. Bandaid Barron- This one is stainless steel, so I'm fairly certain it'll last quite some time. It just screams, "Please abuse me! In due time. I dont mind an ambi for a comp gun but for EDC I cant stand them on s I bump into too many thing and have to reengage them about 10 times a day.

I was visiting a high-end maker last week, for example, that still has one smith make one gun, start to finish.

The smith stamps his initials in the steel, and if it ever comes back with problems that same smith is held accountable. It is brilliant. It is also not sustainable on any scale. Para, by all accounts, is a kick-ass brand. These are people with skills and means, who could carry any on the market, and they carry Paras.

It is a Para—and I can find the bones here that would make for a rock solid —but you have to have faith to find them. The company grew slowly and specialized in s. The Freedom Group bought them in The company built its reputation on rock solid, no-frills s. The guns sometimes strayed into more radical designs. Para pioneered double stack single actions, and developed a double action for the that gained favor with law enforcement.

In the mids, the American military kicked the old Browning design to the curb. The era of polymer framed double-actions was just ramping up. You want more capacity? Try the double-stack. They can fix that, too.

You want a that runs reliably, every single time? Pick up a Para. This pistol here is a Para Black Ops.

When I went looking for a Para to review, I wanted something that would be ideal for everyday carry. The Black Ops is exactly that.

The gun integrates a lot of features I consider mandatory for a defensive carry gun. Guns are nothing more than the sum of their parts. And s more so, as most companies pick up a lot of parts from a wide variety of manufacturers and cobble them together into something that works. These black G10 grips are superb. These are VZ Operators.

The other textures on the Black Ops are sufficient. The slide is serrated both front and rear.Top Quality manufacture and classical weaponry has placed the Canadian company at the top of world production.

In the beginning, they made only pain ball models, only to quickly begin the manufacture of real weaponry combat and competition handguns with M systemand they gained worldwide fame when they made the first true, high quality and to this day, the best metal double-stack with high-capacity magazine for M The company itself has made a complete transformation during the last year and went from being just a civilian to one of the more ambitious military manufacturers.

It is not surprising then, that the leading model of this company famous for its M system handguns for a Spartan, ultra-modern, high quality version of that exact gun coming in two typesmeant primarily for servicemen and called simply Para Black Ops. New model of Para Black ops. This combat pistol has a total length of mm, match grade classically configured cold forged barrel, mm long.

Its total mass is 1, g without the magazine.

Slide does not have any specific markings. It contains a barrel with a classic extractor and an ejection port top of the slide. It uses Colt-Browning short-recoil system.

The barrel has a leftward twist rate of of inches and six grooves. There is a carefully crafted feed mechanism at the beginning of the chamber, made so it could work with all types of bullets.

This model has a full length recoil spring guide rod, which improves accuracy and reliability. Sides of the slide on both front and back have a very aggressive and shallow, flat and wide, symmetrical surfaces for cocking.

Uh...oops! Something Broke.

Ejection port is widened, which increases operating reliability. Classic internal extractor which confirmed its reliability in over one hundred years of service is strengthened and modified even more.

Frame of this gun with Picatinny rail on the lower part of tipstock also brings nothing new, but it has been fully tricked-out. The frame is traditionally shaped, it is completed by straight housing for the firing pin, chequered with thirty lines per inch.

Other parts are mounted on it according to the most modern combat standards, even though there are no visible frills. It has a fully adjustable selective trigger with trigger stop. The trigger is lightened, with an incision. Beaver tail is also included, with a wide ridge at the bottom and ambidextrous long but narrow lever of the manual safety lock, with curved and ridged lever surfaces. Classic joint connects the slide and the frame into a whole, while round button of the magazine catch is enlarged and finely chequered.

Para Black Ops is completed with sharply chequered, thin and comfortable holster made from G fiberglass grip. The best thing about this pistol, however is its final processing, impeccable composition and high quality ionbond synthetic finish. There is no extended loading chamber, but the interior of the frame is finely worked, making loading both quick and safe. Two types of this model differ only in sights. Limited model has micro-adjustable rear sights, made by the LPA Company and a fibre-optic front one.

The standard model has a low Novak with Trijicon night-glowing dots. Concerning accuracy, it can be numbered among the better pistols of this type. With all bullet types, hit groupings in 25 meters are in the 38 and 60 mm diameter, which is a characteristic of only first-class, truly excellent weapon. It is a truly impressive combat firearm, especially considering the deadliness of heavy.

This is why Para Black Ops is a truly effective and deadly weapon whose quality is beyond question. We have not tried Black Ops, but if the quality of previous models is any indication, the latest one is a certain winner.

They pay shipping both ways, week turnaround time. As much as I hate to send it back it is their responsibility to make it right. Remove Advertisements. MSgt Dotson. However, since the trigger pull was horrendous, it likely needed attention anyway. Make Para fix it. Just for future reference, a lot of trigger grittiness is caused by rough surfaces.

I'm sure I probably left something out, but you get the idea. A "dry" trigger should be perfectly smooth. Once all the surfaces are smooth, I then tackle the hammer and sear interface.

Shooting low is good since all that is required to raise the group is to take a little height off the front sight. Shooting high is harder to fix - usually requires a new front sight blank. Did Para say your Black Ops will be returned and fixed by Remington?

They should be able to smooth out your trigger pull. I know a while back, Para was working on a new trigger bow design. Now with the loss of the Para brand, not sure if it's still in the works. I will add that going for a Taurus to almost anything else is a step up. Poor customer service and a definite drop in quality since they were bought out. The other issue is that they sold off all of their spare parts so getting any parts for their guns is next to impossible. Try a Sig Remove Advertisements.

Gene Gillman. Yup, SIG or Springfield As a former owner of a Para Black Ops The single-stacks fed pretty well but Para couldn't make their double-stacks feed reliably. Lost my shirt selling it and 12 mags. Also, a recent problem came to light that the steel used in the most recent slides is way too soft.

You can find threads and pics in this forum of the slide stop notch in the slide being rounded out to the point that the slide won't lock back on empty - with less than rounds through them. And that is just some of their issues.

I hope they can fix the feeding issues in the double-stack models before they start building any. Originally Posted by Gene Gillman. I bought a Black Ops a couple of months ago and love it. I did a lot of research before buying my Black Ops and found, no matter who makes it there are those that have problems with them. The Kimber almost persuaded me to get it as it's action was smooth as glass, but I've read about many having problems with the Kimbers, just like any other or semi-auto pistol out there. The Para felt good in my hand and is well equipped. And that's my opinion on the subject. My neighbor went out with me the first time I shot it and likes it better than his Springfield.

If there's a problem with it you may be better off going to a good gunsmith rather than sending it in for Warranty work. Make sure the one you buy operates smoothly and has a good fit and finish and ten to one you'll have no problems. Remember, people seem to be to squeal like a stuck pig when things don't go their way, but when things do go their way they tend to say nothing about the good.
